Terrible Management – The atmosphere is above average. Beautiful place to dine. The management, at least on the night we dined there were extremely rude and uncooperative. Don't plan to use a coupon as they don't honor them. But do plan to spend over $100 for a family of 5 regardless. The service was not great. But other servers picked up the slack that ours lacked. The fact that management did not honor their coupon cost them my $25 meal as I refused to eat.
I'd say go dine here....but BEWARE - not of the fish, but the management.
Beautiful tanks, but strongly urged to avoid at dinnertime – I have been to the Aquarium Restaurant twice in the last year and 1/2. I love, love, love seafood and have always loved to admire sea life. The ambiance is calming and attractive....and that's about it!!!
I am a patient person, but this was ridiculous...twice!! My experiences were with dinner, at about 6 pm, once on a Wed, once on a Sat. The lines are l-o-n-g therefore you will wait awhile to be seated, (first time for an hour and 20 minutes, 2nd for 1hour & 55 minutes). The food was below average and fairly skimpy for the far from reasonable prices. Our waiter forgot we existed and the 2nd time, (on my birthday), he was down right rude. Prepare to spend all of your evening there, between waiting in line, time of order to pay & go, we averaged about 3 hours on the first visit and 4+ on the 2nd. Needless to say, we won't go back and I don't recommend this restaurant for dinner. If you have children and they or you enjoy sea life, I would recommend at least an appetizer or late lunch, the water life is a must see.
read before you eat here – My husband and I ate at the Aquarium tonight. While the tank was beautiful the food was terrible. It ended up taking us forever to get waited on and the food was cold. We also made it a point to eat there while the fish were being fed as we had been told how amazing it would be. I suppose it could have been except the eatery allows others to stand in front of the tank completely blocking the view. They were only serving at a twenty percent compacity and there was NO crowd control during this time. Seriously was terrible!
I will say if you have young children and are not there for the food then this is the place to take them. The diver takes pictures from inside of the tank which all the children loved. Just keep in mind that you are there for the tank and not the food.
Great aquarium. – This was our early Thanksgiving in Nashville with all the kids and Grandchildren. We look forward to the treat of eating here every Nov. We will not be back. Service was terrible; this Nov. 4 '07. We have children that are waiters and waitress. They commented on how horrible it was this time. We had 13 people at our table. Food was S---L----O----W in coming. Food was very expensive for what you get.. The quality of the food has gone way down compared to other times we have eaten there. It seemed the waiter knew he was getting a 17% tip due to the number being served, so he didn't need to provide good service. He seemed to not be aware when we needed drink refills, although he was very quick to ask the two ladies eating at the table behind us if they needed refills. We were seated at 12:30 PM on Nov. 4, 2007 and didn't get or check until about 3:00 PM.
Simply Grand – I have no idea what some of these people are talking about! (The ones who've had bad experiences.) We have been going there for 3 years! and have had wonderful service and food! Waiters/Waitresses have always been super nice and great at their job. Never once have we had a bad experience of any kind or any size. I highly recommend the dip (with shrimp, crab, cheese , dont know what it is called) for an appetizer and the Broiled Shrimp for your meal and any of the desserts. The food is the best that I've ever had (with the exception of my salmon) and I've got a picky palette. Those who have had a bad experience their first time, I suggest you give it another try. Haven't you ever had a bad day? And don't bring your kids if you cannot control them. That should be common sense. It makes everyone's experience worse, no matter how good, Staff and fellow diners.
Wonderful Experience!!! – Absolutely wonderful! I took my daughter and her two best friends there as part of her birthday trip to Nashville. I read the many reviews of the restaurant and saw some that said it was fantastic, and some that said it was awful. Well ... it was FANTASTIC! The girls (and myself and another mother) had the best time there! The food was probably the best seafood I have ever had. I got the broiled Captain's Platter, and every piece was fantastic. The grilled shrimp was excellent. The deserts were huge and served in a beautiful manner. The chocolate pecan tart was so rich! Each desert is enough to fee two people. The aquarium is amazing, especially the shovelnose guitar fish and the huge moray eel! The wait staff was superlative, I cannot remember any restaurant where I have had better service or friendlier waiters. The decor is fantastic. It is designed to look like you are sitting on the ocean floor in the midst of a coral reef. The ceiling has paintings on it. I sat underneath a picture of a sea turtle swimming overhead! The ceiling lights are brightly colored tropical fish with lights in them. Altogether wonderful. I can't think of a better place to have taken my daughter and her friends! Be sure to call ahead to make a reservation and you bypass the lines. Nice!
Awesome Atmosphere – The Aquarium Restaurant is an experience that everyone should have at least once. I go there once a year on my birthday, and the service has always been wonderful. The wait can get a bit long on the weekends, but if you beat the crowds, you'll be fine.
The aquarium in the center of the restaurant is absolutely captivating, and the dim lighting really allows for a great view of it. The overall atmosphere is very relaxing, I think. The only downside to that is the potential noise when it gets really busy, but even that is usually not too bad.
I have always found the staff to be courteous and patient; they do their best in a very demanding position.
The one thing that really keeps me coming back though is the Chicken! I can't find this kind anywhere else, and it is delicious here. It is sweet and tangy at the smae time, and there is always so much of it! The portions here are outrageous and well worth the money. We usually get an appetizer, which means that I have never once finished my entree...I've never had the dessert because I've never had room, but maybe next time!?!
It is a great place for a birthday dinner. Our waiter gave me a stuffed clown fish from the gift shop (which I never would have gotten otherwise) after I finished eating.
All in all, I think it is an amazing experience. I would recommend it to everyone with kids, especially!
Totally amazing experience – We went there on a whim, there was no wait at around 8 on a Friday night. As soon as we walked in it was absolutely amazing. There's a 200,000 gallon fish tank in the middle of the dining room, with an amazing variety of creatures inside. The food was good, service was a tad slow but with the view I didn't care at all, it was just amazing to watch. Food's a little pricey, but really good. I would guess some of the overhead for care of the tanks is probably in the price of the food. I'll pay it anytime.
I can't wait to go back and take my kids. For more fun with kids go to the Stingray Reef across the way, you get to feed the stingrays. Really awesome.
Terrible food/service – It was a week day, I was doing some shopping with a friend of mine who was visiting. We decided to try this restaurant because it looked like fun. Our server seemed nice at the begining, but once our food arrived, we sort of picked at it. He noticed and asked if anything was wrong. We said it really wasn't that good. He wanted to know if we wanted anything else, we said no because we already had an app. and we we slightly full. He took our plates, asked if we had room for dessert, and then proceeded to drop the check. The manager even stopped by to see how everything was, and we told him we weren't that happy. He said he was "sorry". Needless to say weren't that pleased with the service or food. We weren't ones to complain, but it was awful. I wouldn't reccomend it at all.
Great Fresh Seafood – This was the best experience ever. The food was great, service was solid and the atmosphere is one of a kid.
