Located in the heart of historic Germantown, Germantown Cafe offers comfortable American cuisine at reasonable prices as well as a fully-stocked bar and an amazing view of the Nashville skyline. Conveniently located just blocks north of downtown and the Coliseum, the Cafe is a perfect choice for a pre-game cocktail or a post-theatre bite to eat. In Short – The sleek, modern interior of this brick bistro draws an eclectic crowd, just like the neighborhood. Dramatic floor-to-ceiling white window trim against midnight walls frame the downtown skyline. The short menu covers France, Thailand and New Zealand. Popular starters are hot squash fritters with buttermilk cream. Savory entrees include sweet-plum pork with mashed potatoes and mustard-herb-crusted rack of lamb.

Great date spot

by wwooden at Citysearch

My wife and I enjoyed a great date night in historic Germantown. Germantown Cafe was a great place to start the night before taking a quick drive downtown. The food first and foremost was the highlight. I got the Mahi Special with an excellent balsamic glaze and my wife (a vegetarian) got the Green Plate. Both plates had reasonable portions, were presented well and tasted great. The rolls were delicious. They reminded us of a funnel cake/donut and could be eaten for desert. Speaking of desert we enjoyed the apple pie/ice cream combo. The atmosphere was lively but not obnoxiously so. The trendy decor and the great view of downtown (which was especially nice as the sun set and the city lights came on) also added to the experience. On the mediocre side....our server was attentive but detached. Also, the salad was forgettable. Overall, a memorable date spot.

  • Pros: Food, atmosphere, location, good vegetarian plate
