Editorial Review for PM – by Patrick Rains

In Short
This Belmont-area eatery has a friendly vibe and plenty of space for locals to gather at the bar or lounge on leather couches in the back. Exotic touches such as Pan-Asian statuary and map tabletops lend an international flair. The menu echoes this theme with dishes influenced by many regions of the world. Most entrees are reasonably priced, with options including curried chicken rolls, Thai wraps and a peanut sauce fondue.

Waitress was unfriendly-- as if she were annoyed by simply having to interact with us. (And all we ordered were drinks, before we chose to leave!) Management clearly believes he can act like an a** and get away with it. I live in East Nashville and I've been to plenty "trendy" places. Hell, radius10 and Margot's don't act like this!? Come on, people. There's plenty of good food around here. You don't have to tolerate this service. Allowing pretentious restaurant staff to treat you like a panhandler doesn't make you hip!

This place is pretentious and unfriendly. I went there recently with a large party. Shortly after we were seated a hostess came and told us that we could not all sit at the same table because of restaurant policy. Then the waitress (who was the only person we dealt with from the time we walked in the door until we left who wasn't rude) asked us to move so I asked to speak the manager. When he arrived I asked why we couldn't sit at the same table or move two tables together. He gave us several reasons 1. The kitchen could not accommodate parties of more than 5 (however, it appears that they could accommodate more than 5 people as long as we sat at different tables??) 2. The table was not big enough for all the plates (we hadn't ordered any food yet) 3. Large parties become disruptive - in addition to being insulting this doesn’t explain why if we were at tables beside each other we would be less disruptive 4. That by sitting at a single table or by moving tables together we interrupt the flow of the restaurant. We left PM and went next door to a Mediterranean place that was more than happy to accommodate our party on their patio. If you want pretentious over priced feng shui PM is for you. If you want an inviting atmosphere to enjoy a beautiful Nashville afternoon go next door to Tabouli’s.
