no longer in business. it is 6/08 and i believe this restaurant is closed and has been for awhile. the phone is disconnected and driving by the location the place looks shut down. no lights on, doors locked, and no sign up saying anything about being temporarily closed due to remodeling or moving, etc. it has been this way for at least over a month.

Possibly food po1soning. Be careful!. I suspect that I have got po1soned from duck in this restaurant. The food tasted OK, but the consequences were pretty bad :((( Also, the waiter brought us two dirty glasses... I do not recommend going to this restaurant. There are much better Chineese places in Nashville such as Great Wall in Green Hills.

The Best Chinese Food in Nashville!!!. China Chef never fails to please. The food is better than any other Chinese restaurant in town. In fact, my husband and I drive about a half hour to get there, passing many other Chinese places for China Chef. The interior of this restaurant is amazing! You feel like you have entered another world. The decor is intricate; from the ceiling to the wall hangings, no details have been forgotten. Once inside, you forget that you are in a strip mall. The service is excellent and has consistently been so for the over three years we have frequented the restaurant. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville, and I highly recommend it!

perfect place to eat chinese. We went there by recommendation from one of my Chinese friends. Asked for a special menu, and ordered Crispy Scallops and KungPaoSquid with Dumplings and soup as appetizers. Both dishes come with rice so it was enough for two very hungry men. The souce that comes with scallops made us clear that plate clean. Everything tasted excellent, way better than regular chinese dinner buffets. So, a dinner for two with green tea was 30 bucks, 5 of which as tips. The service was excellent, just as it should be, without annoying stupid questions. Plates were brought and taken in time, etc. The only bad thing about this place is that it is far from where I live, I would heve visited it more frequent otherwise. Overall impression is that it is a very good restaurant with lovely cozy atmosphere. Servers and waiters speak good English and can explain dishes.

Great place to eat!. We were pleasantly surprised by China Chef. We started with the best hot and sour soup I have had since I was in Asia 6 years ago- truly authentic, not the often sweet and too salty versions so many others serve. The Kung Pao was wonderful- nice kick and not over loaded with tons of veggies- a true meat dish. The 5 flavor broccoli was the perfect veggie side for this. We are looking forward to trying other items as well and plan to return soon. The service was very friendly and the food was truly amazing, hot and fresh. There is no buffet here, and I consider that a huge plus, this is a real chinese reasturaunt, not an americanized feeding trough. Eat here, enjoy the very inexpensive beers and tip well- this family is doing a wonderful job!

If you like Chinese food, EAT HERE!. This place is amazing. I can't rave enough about it! I was introduced to it by friends. We live in the Hickory Hollow, and we frequent it so often, the owners practically know what we'll order. Last time I went they had someone new working there, which takes the staff up to 4. Although the service is usually great, don't be disappointed if it's not on a busy night. The lunch menu is awesome! Two people can eat for around $10, and they give you very big portions. The food is always good, and I refuse to eat at any other Chinese restuarant. Friends who have moved from this area have yet to find anything that matches the quality of China Chef, and people I take there agree they have never had anything so good!

TRULY AUTHENTIC!! A HIDDEN TREASURE. My husband is Chinese and this is the only truly authentic chinese food to be found in Nashville... we visit every week. If you dont get the "special chinese menu" ask for it - everything on it is absolutely delicious. My all time favorite is the Salt & Pepper Shrimp! Go on... eat the legs... they are the best part! The staff consists of 3 people - mother, father and son. The father was a famous chef who had his own TV show in China. The mother is the server and the son is the host/delivery guy. We have brought lots of our Chinese friends there and all of them have been so surprised to have such a treat so far away from home.

Very authentic. My wife is Chinese and I found this restaurant a short while ago. Food selection is very good and it is a change from all the standard Chinese buffet restaurants. I can recommend the steamed fish, peking duck and almost anything on the chinese menu. If you want something authentic Chinese try this restaurant. Interior is very average but the food makes up for it.

Authentic Chinese!. I was introduced to this restaurant by a Chinese friend of mine. When you first look at the menu in this seemingly typical strip-mall chinese restaurant it has all of the normal americanized chinese dishes...ignore these and direct your attention to the little paper insert that has the "special chinese menu"...all menus don't have these so make sure to ask. Everything I have had is AMAZING. Try the steamed grouper, five flavor eggplant, and kung pao squid...and don't forget the asian beers for a mere $2.75. Believe me, this place is well worth the drive to Hickory Hollow!
