SO GREAT!. This was the first legit stand-up comedy club I've ever been too and it was a blast! My fiance and I went and checked out Craig Shoemaker recently and the venue was so cool. Cozy, intimate...good food (a little high but it's Nashville...so I expected it) good service. I definitely recommend going. Maybe buy tickets in advance for the bigger shows bc it was a really packed house when we went and I don't think we would've gotten in if we hadn't.

Meh. Thankfully we had free admission to the show last night. There is a 2 drink minimum for extremely overpriced below bottom shelf liquor at $7.25 each. My boyfriend and I both ordered the 2 drinks and a basket of fries. We walked out with a $40 tab. The comedians were pretty funny- some more so than others. We appreciate comedy shows, so we'll continue to go to Zanies for the laughs, but will grunt about the over priced drinks.

Beware of automatic gratuity. We've been going to Zanie's since I was old enough to go...about 20 years now. It's always a great time but I was disturbed recently to find that a 15% gratuity is added to all orders and has been for more than 15 years. This information is on the menu but when you pay with a credit card and they bring your slip back, there is a blank line for you to add a tip with no mention of the fact that a tip was already paid. Everyone around us was double-tipping and everyone I've spoken to was unaware they'd been double-tipping for years.

I contacted the management and they said it was not their intent to deceive. I personally find the layout of the final credit card slip very deceptive, but judge for yourself. Just be aware that even if you're a party of one, a 15% gratuity is on your original check. Do not be deceived into tipping twice.

Otherwise, this is a great comedy club with top-notch acts and great service. The management was kind in apologizing for my concerns about their tipping practices and time will tell if they correct the situation...but in the meantime, I'm warning others. I also agree with the other complaints about waiting on the street. We would go much more often if we weren't weighing whether or not it's worth waiting 45 minutes in freezing cold. I'd like to visit in bad weather too! Seems a bigger location with a bar attached would be more financially wise...have us spend that 45 minutes buying drinks. Everyone wins.

Great night out for mom and dad - but leave the kiddies at home!. Wife and I went to Zanies Saturday night and saw Henry Phillips and Drew Hastings. Both these guys were hilarious. But want I don't understand is the couple that decided to bring their daughter (and her boyfriend) there to celebrate her 18th birthday. I would have been embarrassed, especially with Drew's comments about the oral exploits of someone's wife...

..anyway, great club, reasonable drinks (if you stick to beer). On the down side they need more parking and a better way to queue up their customers outside - what happens if it rains or snows (which apparently if NEVER does in this town).

We'll be back!

A must if you love comedy!. You can see almost every comedian that tours here. I have seen Tommy Chong here twice, he signed autographs after both shows! Tickets should be purchased in advance if you plan on seeing a well known act, they sell out religiously.

There is a 2 drink minimum per guest. Good specialty drinks, but pricey. Fun, at it's best!

Very Funny. This has to be the best value for you FUNNY MONEY. Tickets are never to high and if you are on the email list they send coupons and specials across all the time. The line can get long, so if you want to sit close get there early. Service has always been good for as crowded as it gets and the food is good for bar food.

Fabulous Fun. We went to the first show on a Friday night, it was fabulous. The fact that it was a small audience made it intimate and no person went unnoticed. We had a great time, ordered the Blue Haha, and Apple Fritters, great choices. Will definately go again and again! Quality ADULT entertainment.

Zanies Comedy a great place to see STAND-Up Comedy.. Zanies Comedy a great place to see STAND-Up Comedy. Many big names perform here. Line of sight to the stage is good from anywhere in the room. Plan on buying two drink no matter what. Remember this is how the waitress makes her living, tip well. If you want to be picked on sit in the front, if not, stay a few rows back. GOOD NEWS: SOME SHOWS ARE "SMOKE FREE". Now for the BAD NEWS: Late shows ALLOW Smoking. (2006 July 18)

Waiting in the street?. For a place with a 2 drink minimum, I often have a hard time getting service. And why do they have people lined up outside on the sidewalk? Is there no bigger building in all of Nashville that could accommodate a waiting area with a bar? I love going to see comics, but Zanies makes it awfully inconvienent. The only reason I am recommending it is to see the comics themselves. The venue itself needs some serious work.
