However, the night took a horrible turn. It began after we were seated and waiting for the remaining members of our party to arrive. We ordered some appetizers and our server failed to place the order. Keep in mind the restaurant was not extremely busy, but not slow either. In addition to the server failing to place our order, he also failed to refill drinks or even ask if we would like another drink. Once the remaining party arrived we ordered and one of the members of our party ordered the garlic bread appetizer. When the bread arrived and she tasted it, she was not satisifed with the taste. Therefore, she asked for a piece of pizza because she was not satisfied with the taste of the bread. At this time one of the managers approached our table with attitude and asked what the problem was with the bread. My friend then stated she was not satisfied with the taste. The manager then stated that she could not remove the bread from her bill just because she did not like the taste. She could only remove it if the quality was bad. The customer never asked for it to be removed. The manager then proceeded to say that "She has a business to run." In addition to this manager another individual, who never introduced himself, approached the table 20 minutes later and stated that there where policies they had to enforce and he could not remove the bread from the bill. Keep in mind the customer NEVER asked for it to be removed. At this time everyone with the party was annoyed and felt disrespected and devauled as customers of a business. I informed him of how the first manager was rude and unprofessional. He then stated "I doubt that she was unprofessional or rude" and walked off. As professional business people we understand the concept of how a business is ran and your customers are your business. With this restaurant the customers are not valued.
Great Food, Questionable Service.
Some of the best pizza I've had. Service however is something left to be desired. Not that the servers aren't friendly, just not what I would call great. From time to time you get that "where is my server" or "is he/she avoiding me" feeling. If you're looking for prompt service, might want to try somewhere else. If you don't mind odd or spacey service in lieu of some good pizza, go here.
I dont know where the "kid friendly" thing comes from. More of a bit noisy twenty/thirty-something trendy-hipster-yuppie kind of place.
Give them a try and see what you think.
Smoky Bar...Not for Kids!. My wife and I brought our 4 year old and our 6 year old to eat after reading that the restaurant was good for families. I couldn't disagree more! We were seated in the room in front of the ovens, which the kids liked, but it's next to a very smoky, loud and busy bar. After choking on smoke and listening to bar patrons getting loud and using obscenities, we requested to be moved. We just couldn't get the smoke out of our noses... yuk!
Won't be going back. We went there on a Saturday night because it had been recommended by some of my husband's co-workers. The food was awful. The pizza crust was bland and soggy, with very little sauce. The toppings were ok (but how can you ruin veggies?). The spaghetti was tasteless; like cardboard covered in plain tomatoes, with meatballs that tasted like boiled beef. I couldn't detect a hint of seasoning in anything. Everything was extremely bland. The wine was way overpriced, in fact I felt like everything was. We definitely won't be going back, and I would recommend that others not waste their time.
By far, the worst restaurant experience in Nashville. It was a slower Friday night and there were plenty of seats available. We were seated in the patio area. As we were talking and waiting for menus, drink order etc... a different server came up to us and said "for future reference you need to wait to be seated when you come here" in a very entitled manner. We tried to explain that we had been seated and she was not pleasant at all and in fact, very argumentative. We couldn't believe that this was happening as we arrived ready to eat, drink, and spend money. After our experience with this server, we headed out immediately and went to PM where the service was excellent, we felt welcomed, and we had a great meal! Unfortunately, we live close by and would love to be able to grab a bite here. After this experience though, we will never go back and we won't be recommending this establishment.
Cool place...poor pizza. So far I've eaten here twice. Both times I found the following to be true: good service, good atmosphere, poor parking, bad pizza and overpriced. The first time we had a couple of pies, and two or three drinks and the bill was over $75 (plus tip). Having lived in NY most of my life...I guess I'm just spoiled. Anyone know where I can find good pizza at a reasonable price?
great food with holier than thou service.. if you get any!. This place has really great food - but omg what an incredibly RUDE wait staff. I couldn't believe how rude they were -- and then when the manager was brought in, no matter how polite me or my dad were, the rudeness continued. I've actually NEVER not left a tip before .. but this place's staff sure seems to think a WHOLE lot of themselves!
Hot, tasty spaghetti. The spaghetti was so good. I had the build your own pasta dish and asked for spaghetti and meatballs telling them that I was lactose intolerant. No problems in that department so at least the server knew what the stuff was made out of. Don't take your kids there, though. They will have a lot to scream and cry about. The booths are too high for them, the tables are really close together, game nights it is most likely crowded and loud, etc. etc.. but, like I said, the food was hot and really good.
great pizzas in a casual atmosphere. if you are thinking "pizza" for dinner, let papa johns go. this is the real deal. their speciality pies are phenominal. the meats and cheeses hors d'ouerves can be tasty. and their mousse dessert is to die for. 2 for 1 drinks on tuesday is a real steal. it can be loud and parking is tricky at peak times. we have taken friends, family, kids and with rave reviews.
Doesn't live up to recommendation.
We'd heard about Mafiaoza's for years and finally went on Wednesday night. It was a gorgeous evening so we asked to sit outside. It was a short wait-only 10 minutes, but in those 10 minutes we were unable to get service at the bar.
Once seated, it took a long time to get service, but once she arrived, Terri was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The appetizers she recommended (Piccolo Morsi, Meats and Cheese) were fabulous-make sure you try it.
The big disappointment was dinner. We ordered pizza, feeling obligated given the reputation. I ordered the 'Last Request' and the wife ordered 'Brother Fredo'. The short story is you can do better at Papa John's. The crust was soggy and the toppings were average. We had leftovers, but they sat in the fridge.
Dessert was okay-we tried the combo with cannoli, mousse and tiramisu. The cannoli and tiramisu were average, the mousse was disappointing.
Overall we were disappointed-the place simply does not live up to its reputation. If you're a college kid looking for a few slices of pizza and a beer, it might be great. For two people to have wine, meal and dessert for $100, I think you can do better.
