In Short – The signs at this restaurant say it all: "Mama's Cookin'" and "Sit Long, Talk Much." Vintage-style aprons serve as curtains and old-fashioned kitchen accessories adorn the walls. Many patrons are neighbors of all ages, who drop in weekly for food and conversation. The atmosphere is so unpretentious, many regulars don't know that Chef-Owner Susan Lamb cooked with famed New Orleans Chef Susan Spicer. Tasty meat-and-three dishes are complemented by banana pudding and other rotating desserts.

I loved Maisies, but unfortunately they closed their doors last week and will not be reopening for business. The owner said, "I hope to one day re-open, so please pray for us."

I live in the NY metro area, born & raised in TN. We visited Maisie's a few times on visits home and Susan the chef KNOWS how to cook GREAT food!!
Funny thing how the word gets around -- I've talked with other people in NY who were in for business from TN who also visited Maisie's. You can't beat it!!

Generous portions, good food, great place for lunch.

Maisie's is a great place for lunch. I really like the pork chops and mashed potatoes and the fresh cooked turnip greens. They have everything where you can see it when you decide what to get, and you can tell them to give you more of this or less of that. It's probably the closest thing to home cooking and atmosphere that I have experienced in the area. I confidently recommend Maisie's to anyone looking for a change from the normal lunch fare of burgers and fries. Although, if it's a burger you want, the last time I had one of their burgers it was excellent with fries not dropped till you order.
- Pros: Friendly "country kitchen" atmosphere, good food, daily selection visible to help you decide.
