Tips for Harpeth Valley Animal Hospital

Would reccommend to anyone! Bulldog knowledgeable!. We live right across the street from a vet but choose to make the 40min drive to Harpeth frequently. We have a bulldog that has had to make a lot of trips to the vet and we have trusted them with everything. Many vets will be judgmental towards bulldog owners or not have the knowledge needed for this particular breed. Harpeth has helped us work through all of our dogs issues.

Both of the Dr.s are very professional and kind. They, as well as all of the staff, genuinely care about the animals. While their prices may be a little more than the cheapest vet you can find, it is worth it. They never recommend unnecessary procedures and so in the end you save.

They have called me to follow up with my dog's recovery and have given me an honest opinion about whether or not I needed to bring my dog in. (Most vets would always say 'yes' but they have told me when it is and is not an emergency).

I would definitely recommend them.

Best Animal Hospital Ever!. I haved moved many times in my life and have used veterinarians all over the country for my multiple dogs' care. I have never been to a hospital more compassionate than Harpeth Valley. The doctors (Dr. Hurst and Dr. Herman) are absolutely wonderful. They truly care about my pets' well-being. My dog was recently diagnosed with a bad tumor. The doctors and staff were excellent at explaining all of our options for him. I will always use this clinic! They are the best!

Saved My Dog. Literally, my dog would not be alive if it weren't for the timely and skillful care of the vets and techs at Harpeth Valley. Shortly after I adopted my labrador-great pyrenees mix puppy, he became severely ill, dehydrated and eventually developed pneumonia. Such a little guy and so sick!

The vets and techs were extremely attentive and caring, especially during the time that he was required to stay over night to receive IV fluids. They cared for him so well, that three years later, he still enjoys returning for his annual check-ups and gets excited when he realizes where we are going.

I have to drive 30 minutes each way to bring my dog and cat to Harpeth Valley and I don't regret any minute of the drive. It's completely worth it for the level of care and expertise they provide. They know my pets as if they were their own and treat all of us with great respect. I can't imagine going anywhere else.

Greatest Animal Lovers in Nashville!!. If you love your pet, there is no other place in Nashville that will give the love and care they deserve like the people at Harpeth Valley! They are the type of people that sit on the ground with your dog to make them feel loved. They are even wonderful to my cat when I board her, even though she hisses the entire time ~Ha!

I lost my best friend last week. Ansel was my 13 year old Golden Retriever -simply put, she was the best dog ever. Todd was her vet since she was 6 weeks old. Even when I lived out of town, I brought her to Harpeth Valley. There was no other place that was good enough for her! The day she passed, Todd was the second person that I called ~ that's how important these people are to my animals!

Compassionate Vets. I have been taking my pets to Harpeth Valley for years and will continue to do so for both their benefit and mine. The Vet so naturally puts my animals at ease and when my family had to face the heart wrenching decision to put our 15 year old dog down the Vet put us at ease. He was so compassionate and thoughtful and I can't imagine having to face such a terrible day again without a Vet like this.

I highly recommend HVAH! They are always friendly and my pets love them....when your pet doesn't mind walking in to the Vet clinic then you know you have found the right place and this is the right place.

Horrible, get ready to empty your wallet!!. I have been a loyal customer for 12 years, but I am, no longer. I boarded my pet there over the weekend and picked him up a day early. I got charged a $20 pick up fee and had to pay for the night he wasn't there. I understood having to pay for an extra night, but not a $20 fee on top of that that was never mentioned to me! Obviously they are out for your money.

When I called to discuss this with them, they were rude and wouldn't let me talk to the owner. They said I was unreasonable wanting a refund of the fee.

My big complaint is that they charged my visa card first and then told me about the fee, so it was without my consent. They would not refund my money and were very rude about it. They have forever lost my business and I will never recommend them like I did before. Any one know of a good vet in Bellevue that won't cheat you? My advice...watch every penny and fee they don't tell you about!

I treat my pets like gold--AVOID THIS PLACE!!. I CANNOT even give this place a rating as it doesn't deserve ONE STAR, but have to give one to complete review. With that said, jjjsmith33 was absolutely correct, "AVOID AT ALL COSTS." Please take this seriously. This place doesn't care about you OR, even worse, YOUR pet, including the DVM's Hurst or Herman.

AVOID! AVOID!! AVOID!!! Do your pet a favor, do yourself a favor and AVOID. They are rude and by far the ABSOLUTE worst veterinary clinic I have ever visited....EVER. l feel GUILTY with regard to my pets, regret that I ever took them to this place and allowed such subpar care...please, don't make the same mistake, or you'll live with the regret I do. Heed this advice; my neighbor, who has trained dogs for over 60+ years warned me about how horrible this place truly is. I regret I didn't listen to the wisdom of a sweet, old woman who knows more and cares more about pets than these people ever will....and I've never heard her say anything bad about anyone or any place, except this place, and now, I can clearly see why. Horrible. And, the staff is NOT friendly at all, how could they be working for these vets, who set the standard for the staff? Amazing...the vet I just talked with, the one who sounds like Kermit the Frog after sucking in helium from a balloon (way too silly and way too high-pitched), just told me, when I literally said to her they give subpar care, "if you don't like our services go somewhere else." RUDE! Didn't challenge the fact they give subpar care....I guess some facts are just that, facts--indisputable even to the people that have a stake in disputing them. I informed her that the decision to go elsewhere had already been made--praise the Lord for my beloved pets! Just look at the predominantly bad reviews; one seemingly disgruntled person may not mean so much...many people unhappy with the care should speak volumes.

Great Attentive Doctors- Dr Malone. My Dachshund is 7 years old and I started taking him there a year ago when the Vet I was taking him too wanted to do a major surgery on a bubble that formed on my dogs paw. Dr Malone told me that surgery was not necessary and gave me medicine that cleared it up in couple of weeks. Today I took him in there because he was crying when he jumped. He apparently bulged a disc in his back. He gave me the medicine my dog needed to get better and gave me specific info to follow and did not nickel and dime me. I actually expected to pay a lot and the bill was only 60 dollars. He is very Knowledgeable and really does care. He only does procedures that are necessary and is willing do whatever to work with you to take care of your pet. I have had at least 4 other vets and none of them have ever taken the time that he does. Every time I have been there he has spent at least 30 minutes with me and my dog and done a thorough exam every time. I highly recommend him to anyone who loves their pet!
