What People Are Saying About Kabuto Japanese Steak House

In Short – This place offers larger spaces and more light than most Japanese steakhouses. Rooms consist of four 10-seat grills. Early diners may have to wait for others to fill a table, but the dining experience is always more fun when the chef tosses shrimp into the mouths of strangers. Hibachi dinners are served a grilled shrimp appetizer, soup, salad, vegetables and fried rice. Non-hibachi choices include standard appetizers and tempura, and a separate sushi bar.

Best Japanese

by castlight at Citysearch

The chefs cook your meal to your liking in front of you. Kabuto has not only beautiful food, but is also very entertaining. There are tables of 8 people, with the chef standing in the middle. They do plenty of tricks. It really is a good night out. It has become my family tradition to have birthday dinners here. I highly recommend this restaurant.

  • Pros: Great cook & nice server, coupons on their website

Worst Japanese Steak House Meal We've Ever Had

by Gourmand56 at Citysearch

We ate at Kabuto for the second time in six months on March 28, 2010. The first visit was pretty good, but not great, so we decided to give them another chance. We realized that we had the same cook as the first time who was very noisy with lots of banging of the spatula, and loud talking, but not actually very skillful. He left the grill three different times to go check on the order and get more food. We remembered that he had left the grill to correct the orders the last time we ate there. The fried rice was very sub-par for Japanese fried rice. Even our teenage son said it wasn't good. The Mahi-Mahi was the smallest piece I've ever had anywhere, and the filet mignon had a really off taste to it, like liver or something. We did not eat it all, and worried about its possible later effects on our digestive systems. The bathroom was also not clean and had a bad odor to it. It was unquestionably the worst Japanese Hibachi Grill meal we've ever had, and we've had many.

  • Pros: We found no "pros" on our second visit.
  • Cons: Service was awful, food was worse, bathroom nasty

You threatened to call the Police on our anniversary.

by SFC Kane at Citysearch

My wife, children, and sister-in-law ate at the Kabuto Japanese Steak House on September 11th 2009 at approximately between 6:50pm-07:35pm. I am serving my third combat tour in Iraq and have not seen my wife in almost a year now. Today on September 11th, it is our third wedding anniversary. My wife paid for her sister and while ordering asked the waitress to find how much a piece of lobster would cost in small portion. The waitress could not find on the menu where lobster was priced and so it was ordered along with food for all seated. At the end of the meal my wife was informed that a small piece of lobster had a cost of 14 dollars and when she asked why she was paying full price for a portion of a full meal that she did not receive. This is when the manager stated that he would call the Police on my wife if she did not pay full price for this piece of lobster. My wife then pays 80 dollars for her, her sister, one five year old and two 2 year olds. So I want to thank you for your professionalism and compassion in making my wife who is alone and especially sad today feel little and made to cry on our wedding anniversary while I am thousands of miles away. I will never take my family to your restaurant again.

  • Pros: I know to never eat at the Kabuto's in Goodlettsville, TN.
  • Cons: Your wife will be in tears across the ocean as I am in Iraq.
