The Scene
It smells wonderful in here--a mixture of exotic scents like sandalwood, patchouli and ylang ylang. Mellow acoustic music softly serenades waiting clientele and customers being serviced. Kush and East Indian-inspired interior designs create a subtly inviting ambience. The meditation room, with its lighted stone fountain, dim lights and gauzy white drapes, has a calming effect, but it's really more breezeway than relaxation space. Provocative original artwork by local artist James Threalkill is displayed throughout the spa, and most of it is available for purchase.
The Services
Essense pampers its patrons with fluffy white robes, slippers, tea service, bottled water and fresh fruit. Essense offers traditional spa indulgences, including massage therapy, manicure, pedicure, waxing, and body treatments such as soaks, wraps and exfoliation. Skilled aestheticians deliver on the promise of glowing skin with express, basic, spa or integrated facials. Essense also offers spa combinations, two- to six-service packages starting at $115.
