Where i go to wear my frothy beer stache..
It's no surprise to me to see a couple weak reviews by folks whose parents instilled in them a strong sense of entitlement and likelihood to cry over spilled milk (or water).
McCreary's has got four walls, it's clean, has great beer, a great happy hour, staff, and the hot wings are some of the best I've come across. Let's be realistic in our expectations of our local restaurants, their workers, and come to terms with the fact that a local joint like this simply cannot afford to discount meals for every table that gets all butt hurt by one off day.
Perhaps I seem a bit defensive here, but I really do consider this place a bit of a safe haven from the horribly uppity vibe that most of downtown Franklin possesses. I'd just hate for anyone reading to miss out on a solid night of perfectly poured Guinness pints.
WORST DINE OUT EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. I went to Mc Creary's for a Sunday afternoon lunch. My waitress spilled a glass of water across the table, shattering the glass and soaking all three of us at the table. Small accident, and I actually felt worse for her than I did for our group. However, she didn't clean up all the glass...we kept finding it on the table. She forgot our ranch dressing, our french fries, never offered refills, and she took my friend's soda and never returned. When we were looking around for her, she was sitting at a table with someone she knew and was just shooting the breeze. We eventually got the attention of the manager and told him we were missing ranch, french fries and a soda and that we all needed refills. He took care of it for us but the girl came back and charged us full price for everything. We asked for a discounted rate because we were all soaked, had glass on our table and she missed half of our order. She said she couldn't discount it and we couldn't find the manager. I've eaten here before and the food wasn't that great and the service was always horrible. This time seals the deal for me...I'll never go back there to eat again and I feel like their service was so poor that I needed to post this. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!
Kitchen gets seated first. After waiting for 45 mins, the next table open for the number in our party was given to people not on the list that came from the kitchen area. Nothing like getting bumped by an inside connection and then have to wait 20 more mins. Bad PR !
I've gotta come back to this place!.
You get nothing like this in the UK! A great little place to chill, friendly people working there and couldnt do enough for you.
I live along way from Mc Creary's, but no doubt ill visit again :)
Happy Hour....
Good little local spot to grab an afternoon beer. They have your typical Irish selection (Harp, Smithwick's, and Guinness), plus a cider, assorted bottles, and a montly special (which has been far from special lately). The food is good. I don't think it has changed since the restaurant has opened.
McCreary's has become a great standby place. Nothing special, just a nice quiet place.
my home away from home.
this is home to me, and i have been there almost three years.. that should say somethin!
even before i began working there, my family would come in, i remember henry in particular(who is greatly missed) , but it was just a neat, unique, delicious place not just to eat at, but to hang out and make friends and be treated well!!... try the dry wings (;
Love this place!. McCreary's is a great little place to have a beer and good food. It's small, but it gives you a chance to meet new people! Try the Salmon salad and of course the fish and chips...yumm!
Great place to call home. I frequent McCreary's often. The best happy hour prices anywhere. The food is great. I recommend the hot wings! Ask for Juan's special sauce.
Great food, great beer, great atmosphere. McCreary's is a very special place. It is just about the heartbeat of downtown Franklin. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the beer selection is good, and the food! The food is great. I have eaten fish and chips everywhere from Hawaii to England, and McCreary's remains my favorite. Same things with the wings and the burgers. You just can't go wrong with the food. Add a warm, family friendly restaurant, and this is one great place. On my own website, enjoyingbeer dot com, I gave the Pub 5 stars out of 5. I re-affirm that here.
