What People Are Saying About Muse

Featured Review

In Short – This partially black-lit, somewhat makeshift hangout downtown has a decidedly punk aesthetic, with precariously low ceilings, cafeteria-style tables, paper lanterns, and indie-rock bumper stickers on the walls. The smallest stage in Music City, wedged near the front doors, is home to sporadic open mic-type activities, typically ranging from poetry to acoustic folk. Designed to provide over-21 Muse patrons a place to drink, it offers cheap import and domestic beers. Other items include assorted appetizer-type fare and energy drinks.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
True to form, the club keeps irregular hours so be sure to call and find out when performances are scheduled.
The Extras:
Other fringe benefits include access to two computer workstations for email and Web browsing and back-door access to the Muse on show nights.
Know Before You Go:
It's not the safest block in downtown--be mindful during your late-night walk to the car and use the buddy system when available.

Awesome Venue

I love The Muse, these guys get it. Local bands and/or touring acts all the time. They have a really good selection of beer and other non-alcoholic drinks also their pizza is one of the best I've had (at least in this state). The price isn't bad either. It's kind of seedy (like CB GB's or something) but that's OK for me. Two thumbs up!

  • Pros: Great Music Atmosphere, Tons of cool people, Great sound
  • Cons: Not the prettiest place

Great live music!! Enjoyed The Relatives!!

by Joywalker at Citysearch

Went with a friend to see a local band here. This was the first time I had seen a place like this. Although it was a bit rough around the edges...the music and the employees more than made up for it. I was VERY impressed with the band "The Relatives" that played than night. They were from Nashville. Not only is their sound great but they also put on a fantastic show! The crowd really got into their music! And if their talent wasn't enough...the entire band is made up of a family!!!! A single dad is the drummer and his son ( prob early 20's) plays lead guitar, his other son, who they said was only 9 years old plays base, while the daughter( 14-ish) does most of the vocals. They were great and entertaining as well. The Muse is a good place to find good music!

  • Pros: Great place to hear very talented bands
  • Cons: limited selection of food and drink!!! AC is not great.

Hmmm

by GinGin629 at Citysearch

Well It's not really my kind of place. There was the weirdest crowd there. Old people, children (yes children!), goths, punks, and an all ladies country band singing in the back. Not that this was an issue I just found it odd. It was dirty and way too small. I am not too snobby about my bars, I expect them to be a little grimey but this was just kind of a hole. I had heard great things about it so maybe my expectations were too high. I went with my boyfriend who listens to metal bands and he loved the atmosphere. Not my cup of tea :-)

  • Pros: Easy to find
  • Cons: Dirty, too small, wanted better drink selection

Awesome atmosphere

I perform in a band called Serpent's Pool. We have played at the Muse twice now, and are booked for two more shows. We love it there. The employees are real awesome. And the people that come are always really cool. I personally love just going and sitting in the front of the club on their giant leather couch and talking with everybody.
