I chose Jewell Roofing to install my new roof and I am so glad I did. I received excellent customer service from the office, salesman, roofing supervisor and crew. My roof looks great and I will recommend Jewell Roofing to anyone.
New Roof - Flooded Bonus Room.
While I don't have enough room to provide a play by play account of my experience, the executive summary is as follows:
House is 11 years old. Roof shingles were deteriorating and needed replacing. Jewell was prompt, on time, and reasonable (not the cheapest). Work was done 5/20/11. Experienced small leak (discoloring of drywall in bonus room). After coming to house, informed me the wind had caused the flashing around the chimney to blow up. This was identified as the source of the initial leak and I was told it was repaired. Major rain event occurred on 9/5/11 and bonus room received significant damage (drywall, trim, insulation, carpet) from leaks. Jewell contends the damage was caused by mortar deterioration on the chimney and not as a result of anything they did. Please note that there were 12 men on the roof with ladders beside the chimney during the roofing replacement. Jewell has communicated they have done "all they feel they need to do" and will not assist with any repair costs, even though I offered to split the repair costs with them. Have filed BBB complaint, Angie's List review, and others. I am in discussions with my attorney over litigation for damages and repair. This company claims they are a locally owned, family business which prides themselves on service for 30+ years. This is definitely NOT what I experienced. Stay away!!!
They take care of senior citizens.
I cannot keep this to myself. You don't find this kind of customer service now a days. I am 77 years old senior citizen and called on Jewell Roofing for a gutter quote. They came out when promised, with a good price and I signed the contract. Jewell Roofing & Gutters did the job and my gutters look great. I had a personal issue that came up and I was not able to pay as I had agreed. This company had compassion for my situation and let me make payments, interest free!! In my book, this is a top-notch company that cares about you, not just the job.
I have recommended these fine folks to alot of people.
So, so customer service.
We called these people for an estimate on doing a roof repair (not a replacement). The receptionist said (with a very bored sounding tone of voice) she would have someone come out to meet with us, but she did not say when. Three days later someone rang our doorbell, the man was there perhaps three minutes (he never went up on the roof) and said he could not actually give us the estimate only the boss could. He said we would receive an email with the estimate tomorrow. A week went by and no estimate. I called, the same receptionist (again, sounding as though she could care less) put me on hold for quite a while and then said she had it right there. She said I would have the email within half an hour. Four hours later I finally received the email.
Obviously if you don't want to spend thousands with the people, then they don't want your business. I will remember this lack of customer service when it does come time to call someone to replace my roof and Jewell won't be on the list.
