Editorial Review for Alleycat Lounge & Tex-Mex Grill – by Jonathan Flax

In Short
With red-painted concrete walls and large bar, this body shop-turned-neighborhood dive is a low-key contrast to East Nashville's trendy club scene. The big windows along two walls stay open on warm evenings, lending a patio-like quality to an otherwise dimly lit and boxy space. Instead of live music, there's a vintage Victrola record player. Unlike many bars, the food here is not an afterthought. Gourmet Southwestern entrees include chorizo empanada and bourbon-ancho glazed pork.

Alleycat is good, but not great. The cheese dip is awesome and its worth going just for that. Other than the cheese dip , Allycat is a bit overpriced for average food. The drinks aren't cheap either. The wait staff has always been nice. My order has frequently been wrong, but they did their best to make up for it. I say go at least once, but don't have high expectations.

Pros: cheese dip

Cons: food, price

The Alley has got to stand for Bowling Alley not Alley at. The food was horrible, to start things off we had all ordered drinks and the service was good, a older gentlemen and nic young lady waited on us. The food however was just plain bad. We had nacho's and burrito's and the food was just poor quality, the meat they used was greasy and it lacked taste and the portions were average. Would never go there again, plus people were smoking and children were dinning in the restaurant, I thought Tennessee had a no smoking law in restaurant that were not 21 and up??

Pros: Service

Cons: food, parking, smoking
