In Short – With red-painted concrete walls and large bar, this body shop-turned-neighborhood dive is a low-key contrast to East Nashville's trendy club scene. The big windows along two walls stay open on warm evenings, lending a patio-like quality to an otherwise dimly lit and boxy space. Instead of live music, there's a vintage Victrola record player. Unlike many bars, the food here is not an afterthought. Gourmet Southwestern entrees include chorizo empanada and bourbon-ancho glazed pork.

Maybe a little biased, but....

by LarryMell

I might not be the most unbiased judge, being an East Nashville resident, but the Alleycat Lounge never disappoints me. Whether it's Sunday brunch, dinner with friends, or the last stop on a long night out East, the food and service at the Lounge are always fantastic, and the pepperjack chicken sandwich is a must-taste for any visitors to town. Definitely one of my favorite spots.

  • Pros: Great food and service, and a cool bar.
  • Cons: Sometimes smoky

HOME SMOKED BRISKED MMMM

by michmcd

I just discovered that Alleycat smokes their own brisket right on the premises, in fact I discovered it because I was bar hopping in 5points and I could smell it all over the neighborhood. It drew me right in, I tried it and I'm hooked!!! It's the best brisket I've ever had and I'm meat & potatoes all the way so I've had my share of brisket. And they have a great patio too.

  • Pros: best brisket and the patio
  • Cons: not open for lunch anymore

My kinda place to party

by ruthiemartin

I've never been there to eat from the full menu but they have a great late night menu 'til 1am on the weekends and the nachos are fabulous, especially when you need to absorb some tequila after a few margaritas. I recommend the Pamarita, its the BEST!!!! Anyway my friends and I love to go to the Cat to dance. Its a small dance area (in fact they just move some tables aside to make room) but its usually not so packed that you step on toes but just busy enough that it feels like a really great party in someones garage. I say garage because it used to be a garage, it still has the concrete floors, exposed rafters, and even an engine hoist which I think is really awesome. The music is pretty awesome too and its on vinyl. The whole atmosphere is so NOT clubby or stuffy just casual and comfortable for real working adults as opposed to frat boys and sorority girls like downtown and west side.

  • Pros: margaritas, music, dancing
  • Cons: none
