Great food, fun atmosphere – I have been here twice, the first time for a private party. We received a private room, great attention. The food was awesome. Rich but not too heavy. I had the salmon with pine nuts and pesto. I tried to copy that recipe at home right away. Pasta was a bit mushy but still good. Prices are right on the fence. Second time, server was good. Food was just as good as I remembered. One thing that confused me was the table in the kitchen. I don't know why anyone would want to sit there. Too noisy, busy.
Should've went somewhere else. – I've seen Buca Di Beppo many times driving through Franklin. I checked out the reviews online and thought it sounded like a great place to eat based on all of the raving reviews. I was expecting something along the lines of Macaroni Grill in a different light.
Well, I walked in and it looked alright. I was walked through the kitchen, and then to a table. The atmosphere was nice. It was a little different with all of the pictures, and Christmas lights hanging around everywhere.
My waiter was polite, but always seemed to be in a hurry even though it wasn't busy. No big deal. Apparently, this place usually serves parties of 2 or more. The dinner menu is designed in those portions. Small feeds 2, and large feeds 3 or more. The waiter was nice enough to let me order off of the lunch menu since I was by myself. So far so good.
The waiter brought back my sweet tea, which wasn't all that great. Then he left me some bread, which was cold, and poured some olive oil into a plate to dip in. No seasoning or anything. Just oil. I'm open minded so I tried it. If you've ever used super glue, and accelerator, then you'll know what the oil tasted like. Seriously, it tasted like accelerator. Disgusting.
I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. You can't go wrong with spaghetti and meatballs. You can't, it's too simple. Well, apparently you can go wrong. It was terrible. Why? The supposed meatballs turned out to be a meatball. Or rather, a meat loaf. I like meat loaf though so I tolerated it. The spaghetti was alright, nothing special. The sauce could've been good had it not been so watery after the initial thick top. Meaning someone probably didn't drain the noodles enough, the meat loaf was super greasy, or maybe the sauce was watery itself. Overall, though the taste wasn't good at all. Greasy meat with cheap noodles, and chunky.watery canned type sauce.
I had high expectations. The whole adventure cost me $16 ($2 tip included). I would've rather paid an extra $5-10 to go to Macaroni Grill or anywhere else really. I wont be dining here again.
So again, good service, nice people, a pleasant atmosphere, but terrible food.
Affordable date place for college students! – My boyfriend and I eat at Buca ALL the time. We're college students on a tight budget and find that Buca is one of the most affordable places for date nights, because the portions are large enough to share. The desserts are delicious and if you get on the emailing list you get discounts all the time. Service is usually amazing, we've only had one waiter that wasn't great (we think it was his first day)
We highly recommend it.
Get cozy with friends and family and enjoy an Italian feast at this loved-by-locals restaurant. – In Short
Homesick for your mother's Italian cooking? Grab your appetite and head to this restaurant, where the friendly wait staff will serve up portions of Colosseum-esque proportions, like spaghetti and meatballs loaded with savory tomato sauce and lots of pungent garlic. Dishes center on Southern Italian immigrant fare, and are meant to be shared family-style with a large goblet of wine-to enhance the taste, of course. The ornate décor with walls covered in vintage photos evokes a warm homey feel that welcomes customers to dine among the other families and loyal customers. Buon Appetito!
Great for your Family or large group – This place is family style so come hungry or with a large group ready to share. I love it and will keep coming back.
Great food, best pizza anywhere, great customer service – My husband and I decided to give Buca di Beppo a try (we usually eat at Carraba's when we want Italian), since we were going to be in Cool Springs. The place looks a little divey when you walk in, and the hostess takes you through the kitchen to seat you, which was interesting, but the food was AMAZING. We tried the fried mozzarella, and the marinara was to die for. For dinner we ordered the chicken parmesean (and asked for them to make it spicy) and the finocchiona pizza. Both were fantastic, and it was quite possibly the best chicken parmesean in Nashville (and my husband should know, he has ordered it at about 15 different restaurants here!). As for the pizza, it was such a perfect blend of flavors (I substituted the peppers for mushrooms) with just the right balance of crust, toppings, cheese and sauce. We dined kind of late (almost 10 pm), and service can sometimes be poor at restaurants as it gets close to closing, but our server, Sam, was very friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about the menu, our glasses stayed full, and our food came out fast, hot, and just as we ordered it.
Southern Italian with flare – This location is a unique experience. They pride themselves in keeping the authenticate basement feel as the founding family created. With this basement look and feel they have been able to keep with a very nice and intriguing environment. I absolutely love the large portions and the friendliness of the staff. The will always be a location for suggestion with large family meals and corporate lunches.
everything is wonderful – Everytime that I have been here the food has been amazing. The portions are so big you will have enough for lunch the next day. I have always had great service. The new pork dish will melt in your mouth.
Simply Spectacular – My mother and I had heard great things but were immediately unsure when we saw the array of wild pictures on the walls. Much to our surprise our server Eveiean knew anythign and everythign about the menu and answered all of our ridiculous questions. The food was nothing short if impressive and the dessert was to die for. Would have been better if there was more of us, but still not complaining. Would suggest this reasturaunt to anyone!! Thank you Buca!!
Yummylicious! – My mom and I went to Buca di Beppo on Saturday after golf lessons. We were starving! We shared the small eggplant parm. and small spaghetti w/ marinara. We began our meal with the salad topped with proscuitto and gorgonazola--incredible! The salad's Italian dressing wasn't heavy and the proscuitto was fried; it was perfect. The eggplant was perfectly fried and thick enough to taste eggplant, and the marina tasted homemade and slow-cooked. We were ravenous, but we still had enough to take home to the guys. Our only regret? No room for dessert.
