best scallops in town !!. One of my favs in the area for sure. its seafood and cajun so fried is the name of the game here. My wife and I love the sea side atmosphere and the food is awesome. I have tried many items but have to say my favorite is the Scallops. Tender, lightly battered and melt in your mouth. The portions are great and I rarely finish everything regardless of my dinner choice. This is coming from a 260 man, so Im sure youll be pleased with anything you choose. Red slobster will never get another penney from me as long as SB's is around...

Horrible Experience.. Dined @ SB's on 1-29-11. Service was slow, although I think this was due to poor staffing. The dining room we were in had 1 waitress, and our group, alone, had around 30 people.

Food: the worst.

Fried, fried, and fried. Yeast rolls were deep-fried. No kidding. One bite, and oil ooozed out into your mouth.

Inedible. When I asked for a roll that hadn't been fried, I was told that this was all they had.

Red beans and rice were overcooked to the point of being mush.

Will NEVER eat there again.

Awesome Red Beans and Rice. All of their food is good, but the absolute best is the red beans and rice. My husband and I are well traveled and love cajun food - this is truly authentic stuff.

This is the REAL DEAL!!!. We absolutely LOVE to eat out and I didn't think there was a restaurant within 50 miles of our home in White House that we hadn't tried at least once. When my wife asked where I wanted to go Friday to celebrate Father's Day I said "Surprise me", and I expected Caraba's, Logan's, Kabuto, or another of our favorites to be the destination. I couldn't believe that only a few miles from home she found Steamboat Bill's, and what a surprise it was! The place just has a great sea-side vibe, we remarked at how it reminded us of our vacations to Dauphin Island. Our server was an absolute sweetheart who obviously loved her job, in fact the entire staff was outstanding. With six children we are always price-conscious and S.B.'s really delivered a value with huge portions and generous refills. But the best part was the authentic, correctly cooked & seasoned Cajun food, as good as any I've had. The Entoufee-topped baked potato was incredible, the Catfish was wonderful and the steak was perfect, two BIG thumbs up on this one!!

Water views and fresh Louisiana fare make this seafood shack worth the drive.. In Short
With its picturesque views of the marina on Old Hickory Lake, Steamboat Bill's is the perfect locale for dishing up crawfish, seafood and Cajun and Creole cooking. The lone Tennessee outpost of a southwest Louisiana chain, this low-ceilinged establishment sports an informal, relaxed atmosphere and a lively bar the locals seem to love. The catfish Atchafalaysa--grilled catfish served on Cajun rice and smothered with shrimp etouffee--excites the palate with its Creole spices and cayenne.

Authentic Cajun!!. Finally a restaurant outside of Louisiana that dosent just throw cayenne pepper & garlic or Tabasco on food and call it Cajun!

Yes Steamboat Bills has fried Seafood! If you go into any Louisiana Seafood and or Cajun restaurant and they dont offer at least fried shrimp or fried catfish on the menu leave, unless the Deep Fryer is broken.

Ive been there a few times. The Boudin Nuggets (Apparently I have to use the word 'Nugget' because the real word is inappropriate to CitySearch) are good, the Etouffee Potato is excellent. The Catfish Atchafalaya (grilled btw) was great. The Red Beans, Stuffed Crab (Real Crabmeat!!! Not that immitation junk), Gumbo, and Fried Catfish are wonderful as well.

Also I always know where I can find an Abita Beer either Amber, Purple Haze, or Turbo Dog, when I dont feel like driving to every Grocery store north of Nashville or even to Downtown Nashville.

Prices are reasonable as well. Around what Id expect to pay back home in New Orleans. Maybe a buck or two more here and there, but I dont know of any shrimpers, or oyster or crab fishermen on Old Hickory Lake either and its definitely cheaper less time consuming than driving or flying all the way back to Louisiana.

Authentic LA Taste!. Being from LA, I found the food to be very authentic in taste and just felt like home again! If great LA seafood is what you are looking for, this is the place to get it! Very casual atmosphere.

Sorry ole grumpus had to fuss about his steak!. If you have the priviledge of visiting Steamboat Bill's it is the SEAFOOD you are there for! Terrific food at a very good price. I will say a good friend of mine has had their strip steak, and was HIGHLY impressed with it.

On a 1 to 10 scale, 9.5, and that's only because of the curvey 2 lane Sanders Ferry Road. Still worth the time to enjoy some terrific food, especially their catfish!

Customer Satisfaction - Not. I was very disappointed because my steak was medium rare, I had requested medium well. The manager ask to recook my steak, but I requested he remove this item from my bill. The rest of my party was almost finished and I did not wish to wait. I suggested he only charge me for the potatoe and salad portion of my dinner, he just stood there a looked at me. When I received my bill he had in fact removed the price of the steak dinner and instead charged me only for the small salad ($1.99) and potatoe ($4.49). I was willing to pay for these because I had eaten them. When something like this has happened at other establishments, they were very apologetic and removed the entire meal. I returned to those establishments to give them another chance. Everyone has bad days! I will not return to this one!
