HORRIBLE.
I wouldn't give this one star but I had to. Let me start with the obvious, the owner is horrible to his customers. And every takes it! He's rude and disrespectful. He is trying to be the "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld but the difference is he doesn't have the product to back it up.
The sushi:
-the seaweed what chewy and old
-the rice was dry
-the rolls were huge, but they were full of cucumber and avocado
-there was BARELY any fish in the sushi which is how he can charge such a low price
-the quality of sushi was horrible because it was not fresh and it was not from the good part of the fish (it was the scrap parts)
-the wasabi was not hot
If you're going to be rude to your customers at least have the product to back it up. Hands down worse sushi I've ever had. I've eaten sushi from all over the world and I'm Japanese so... there you go.
Cons: Just listed.
Pros: I never have to go again.
sam's sushi rocks.
sams is great,me and my sons love going there.sam is a really great guy.the 1st two times i went in he did not talk, but after he gets to know you it gets better, the rolls are huge and cheap.the combo soup is 4 bucks about 6 big bowls of soup, loaded with egg ,noodles, veggies
pork dumplings, crabmeat, bean curd.sam's is my favorite place to eat down town.i have still not seen same rude to anyone or kick them out.
great sushi, cheap. My girlfriend and I went to Sam's for the 1st time not to long ago. We were polite and courteous and when he asked us if we had been there we both said no. He still served us; it probably was because we had a good attitude and we made ourselves interesting company by talking about school. We had a huge plate full of great sushi and two drinks for only $13.50. I can't even get two rolls for that elsewhere and for a broke college student like myself I can't beat it. My advice if you're new: be kind and let Sam run the show. Don't act like a sushi know it all but pick from the list and be understanding. Sam will take care of you, like he did with us.
Awesome!. Sam is a great guy as long as you treat him with respect and offer him some interesting conversation. He does serve new costumers, if you come with a regular. His sushi is cheap and delicious. By far my favorite place to go for sushi in Nashville, not just for the food but for the interesting conversation
Life is too short for cheap sushi.. Sam really didn't want to be there and it shows. You can do much better by going elsewere.
If you want to get the urge to hurt an old japanese man, go here.
Yes, Sam has the cheapest sushi in nashville, but you get what you pay for. sloppy rolls of mostly rice. its not good sushi. taste of tokyo had better sushi and its shut down.
sam is a top notch a**hole. he once yelled at a friend of mine because she asked politely if he could split up our bill, even after we had written our orders on TWO separate tickets. we even followed the strict ordering policy. bulls**t.
another friend of mine was told to leave once because she had piercings and tattoos. sam said she was "an ugly girl". im not makin this up.
i stopped going a while ago, but i hear that now he only serves regulars. not to sound cliche, but this is america, and thats just not how its done.
start acting like a reasonable human being sam, or go home.
Sam's Sushi, not bad for the price.
I have been in Nashville now for two weeks and so far have tried five different sushi restaurants. Today I was privileged enough to try Mr. Sams city renowned sushi. Coming from a person who loves his sushi and eats sushi almost everyday, I was not impressed. Clearly it was my own fault. I had set my expectations to high for Mr. Sams sushi and totally ignored how much I was paying. That said, for the price I paid it was what you should expect.
Let me break it down for you.
Judge your restaurant on these basics standards:
Price, Perfect for what it was
Quality, See Price
Service, Self Serve here
Location, Hard to find for tourist, good for locals
Envoirment, Good Luck
Overall Expeirence Everyone should try it once but say you been before.
Inside joke. you'll see.
Thank you. For more info on other restaurants in the city e-mail me: vhernande23@hotmail
Best Sushi in the area. Simply the best sushi for the money in the area. Sam was extremely nice when we visted, and the sushi was very tasty. I will be going back next week!
Don't waste your time.... ...I stopped by Sam's and got the same treatment by Sam as the last poster only this time it was in the evening. Apparently Sam likes hipsters "his friends" more than making money. There are three other sushi bars in a four block radius two of which are rated #1 and #3 on list. I'd recommend Koto.
