The Japanese proprietor is often the sole employee at this tiny nook on the corner of Church Street and Printer's Alley, where he holds court behind the sushi bar. But even with space for just 20 patrons, office workers file in to scribble orders for tuna rolls, salmon nigiri and other basics on plain notepads. A mish-mash of faux fish netting, Titans scarves and stacks of Kirin beer boxes lend an East meets West kitsch.

...I stopped by Sam's and got the same treatment by Sam as the last poster only this time it was in the evening. Apparently Sam likes hipsters "his friends" more than making money. There are three other sushi bars in a four block radius two of which are rated #1 and #3 on list. I'd recommend Koto.

We had been hearing about Sam's for a while so 4 of us went for lunch. We walked in, Sam asked if we were new, we were. He said he only served regulars and he would not serve us. I have never been treated like that.
Cons: We never got to eat there so I cannot rate it. but service sucked.
