Dry, Bland, Overpriced. I've been to this place twice in the past year and never have been impressed either time. Decided to come here on a Friday night in the pouring rain...big mistake! Swarms of wet stinky hipsters lined the entrance walls on a surprisingly crowded night (figured the rain would've kept 'em away!)

The decor, lighting, etc. is decent...kind of has that new age, Mexican-fusion vibe, or something.

By far the best asset to the restaurant is its back patio which can be quite inviting and relaxing depending on the evening. As to be expected on a Friday night, the patio was packed and we were stuck on the side of the patio while the wind and rain frequently blindsided us and our food. Nothing more appealing than wet Mexican!

I've seen quite a few bad reviews of the food and most are dead on. I ordered the fish tacos which were dry, bland, and way way overpriced. The rice and beans all taste like they came from a can, nothing seemed fresh, and it seems like they microwaved the whole meal. The margaritas are also very overrated and very overpriced. $20+ for a pitcher of sugar water with a hint of tequila? No thanks.

Overall, I would not recommend coming here, ever. Las Maracas is a much better option in the East Nashville area. Their food is way tastier, moderately priced, and a much better restaurant experience.

Not Impressed. I assume people only like this spot because it has the nice patio - and that part of it was nice. I also enjoyed the 3 salsas and chips. But, the margarita was terrible. It tasted nothing like a real margarita and you could tell it was made from some canned juices. It tasted more like High C than a margarita. My wife asked for hers frozen and what came out was this watery, pint of fruit juice.

I also would like to know what qualifies a burrito as "famous" - the burritos try to substitute size for taste - but i don't want a 2 pound burrito if it doesn't have good flavor. Not much seasoning to speak of, and just this sauce dumped over top of it.

Overall, very disappointing, add the unfriendly service. Never going back.

Great margaritas, fun/friendly atmosphere. Have drank and eaten at Rosepepper 2x now. The margaritas are outstanding - love that they use the lime juice mix rather than sweet and sour mix like most of the mex places around Nashville. Love that they have 3 salsa options with the chips - tomatillo is the best, although wish it was a little more solid (very liquidy). Was told by many that I must try the queso dip - was not something I would order again, but I think I have a different palate than most southerners. The entrees we tried haven't impressed me. First visit: Enchiladas de Tomatillo - extremely cheesey and somewhat bland, small portion - did not fill me at all. Got the Sonora veg as side - was completely disappointed as the vegs were chile peppers and corn - blah. Husband got he Burrito Asada - good, but nothing to write a song about. The guacamole was the highlight - tasted freshly made and delicious. 2nd visit - husband and I tried combo plates (taco, enchilada, flauta, chimichanga, rice and beans) - not impressed with any of the items. Bummer.

Both times the greeters/hosts and waitstaff were very friendly. And, I love the atmosphere (fun, whimsical) - reminds me of many of the cantinas I have been to in San Antonio, TX.

Will give it another try, definitely for drinking and hopefully for food IF SOMEONE CAN PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE GOOD ITEM TO ORDER IS - ;)

SOOOOO Overrated and BLECK!!!!. I LOVE Mexican food, but this isn't your typical Mexican restaurant! For starters, I HATE their pulled beef and pulled chicken; it's disgusting! RP's margaritas are horrible, and I have to keep shaking salt in it just to drink it down. The service is horrible with scary goth/artisty looking jerks who treat you like you're wasting their time. If they stop by to see if you need anything or a refill, you've hit the lottery, but good luck getting them to do...well...their job. As for the salsa (they bring you 3)...NO flavor...again, bring on the salt just to pretend to enjoy it. I'll stick to REAL Mexican restaurants like Panchos, Cinco de Mayo, or even La Hacienda over RP!!

WORST MEXICAN FOOD EVER!!!!!!. This place is the worst restaurant I have EVER ate at. It's supposed to be mexican, well guess again. The only thing mexican about this place are the bus boys and the guys that bring you chips and salsa. I am a margarita lover. That's primarily all I drink. And one would associate good margaritas with a mexican restaurant. Not so much at the Rosepepper. The first margarita I sent back because it was so bad and the second one I could plainly see through like it was water. The only reason why I drank the second one was because the tequila taste was so strong I was hoping it would get me drunk enough to stomach another one, but that didn't work. I actually didn't even finish it. Then I ordered nachos to eat. You would think it being nachos, who could mess that up right? Well the Rosepepper did. Worst nachos EVER and might I add they were like $11.00 when at an actual mexican restaurant they are only like $5.00!!!! I love mexican food, and nachos are really good at all mexican style restaurants I have ever eaten at, but not here. They had pulled beef in them, like roast beef or something, and no white cheese on them like real mexican restaurants do. It was disgusting. And the hostess on duty, which happened to be the floor manager was very rude and unprofessional. She walks around with a snooty look on her face and is not friendly or helpful at all. I'm guessing she has an ego problem, or control issue becuase she is a manager, and unfortunately the only manager on duty while we were there so we received no sympathy for our horrible experience and waste of money.

I would NEVER recommend this place, not even to someone I despised. Noone deserves that kind of torture. And to the people that actually like this place's food and margaritas, you either have never had real mexican food, or you need to see a doctor because your sense of taste is gone.

As for the good reviews this place has, I would almost have to say it's the employees leaving them.
