Happy I AM NOT! & I don't want to pay.:) It has taken me a few days to calm down, but I want my service call REFUNDED! Called last Friday 1/25, due to water damage to our heating and air ducts under the house, due to our refrigerator line to the ice maker and water bursting and putting water down our vents. Called, lady set up the apt. between 11am and 1pm. That is the only good thing, Mike did arrive during said time, but after that it was all down hill. He diagnosed the problem as a bad circuit board and some bad valve, that would total $1300 and another $1800 to repair the damaged duct work, ok, remember this is last Friday, when it is freezing, kids are out for snow day, and we have no heat. They could get the circuit board, but no valve that day, but wait.. Mike had called salesman Chris McMurtry to come out and give us an estimate on the duct work and get this,,, a NEW $7000 unit, that we should really get since our unit is 8 1/2 years old and if we are already going to spend $3100, we should go ahead and just get a new unit & it could be installed TODAY, even if Chris had to go to Jimmy Hiller himself, why ,how nice of him. Insert sarcasm! Oh my goodness, you've got to be kidding me. And to top if off, they are telling us (Mike and Chris) that the problem with the water duct damage, had nothing to do with the HVAC going out. They were so WRONG!!! I looked right at Chris and said no thanks!,.. a second opinion we will be getting, but oh yes, still had to pay for your good for nothing incorrect diagnosis of$79, for absolutely nothing...Another AWESOME company came out at 7pm that Friday night and had fixed our duct work, had the HVAC system working, yes we had heat, and get this...all for the grand total of $65 and the work was done in less than an hour. Guess what, your tech guys obviously never heard of a safety reset switch?....that is all it was, like an electrical outlet reset button. Elementary my dear up selling, could care less about your customers Hiller Company. Nothing against Mike or Chris, I guess they were trying to their job, just not very well, each man left our house with us wanting to shell out big money, and they left us with no other options and guess what NO heat!! We were a previous customer, but Oh NO, NEVER EVER AGAIN!! and we shall spread the work about the service, or better yet the raping we almost received! Oh and yes, did I mention the repair of $65 costs less that your service call, btw the other company did not charge us a service fee since they were giving us a second opinion and obviously wanted our future business.
I needed a plumber and decided to call Hiller. I joined the Happy Hiller Club over the phone and they sent both the plumber and a HVAC tech the very next day. Both guys were very professional and polite. The plumer was unable to complete installation of the dishwasher I had purchased because an important component was missing, but returned and finished the job at no addition cost once I got the part from the store where I bought the appliance. The HVAC tech suggested I replace a couple parts on my heat pump, but explained the possible consequences and then left the decision up to me...no pressure. I was very pleased with the entire experience and feel comfortable recommending Hiller to anyone.
These guys are awesome they get the job done super fast and do a good job everytime i have called them and one call was at midnight and the service tech was in a great mood and glad to help us out i highly recommend them for all of their services
Wow, it makes me sad to see the reviews before mine. I've used Hiller Plumbing three times over several years (for three totally separate issues), and have been very pleased. There was no hard upsell, the employees were polite and easygoing and went out of their way to explain everything they were doing. The last time they came out to the house was for an emergency when we had water leaking in the house on two levels in three different places. It did take a few hours to diagnose, clear out the main line, replace the parts, and clean everything up, but it seemed the Hiller employee went above and beyond. I was worried that the bill would be in the thousands, but total was $300-something. We had no lingering problems after that. I recommend Hiller to my friends and coworkers every chance I get!
Don't let them into your home.. We called Hiller Plumbing to unclog two sink drains in adjoining bathrooms. The representative put on plastic booties (something other reviewers seem to think makes the plumber a kind gentleman.) The guy showed pictures of his six kids (something to warm the heart, if true.) He would not go up on the roof to snake out the drain, saying it was after dark and against company policy. He examined some of the cast iron pipes in the basement and said modern chemicals and shampoos kill enzymes and pipes. (This must be the standard Hiller sales pitch to up-sell.) He gave an estimate to replace half of the pipes in the basement--$1600 to $1700. Said he could do the work in six hours the following day. He also offered to put a camera in the pipes, and cut an access hole in the vent pipe running through the attic. We decided to get another estimate the next day. Pumber from Murfreesboro came out as promised. Unclogged the two drains. Said the cast iron pipe was sound. Put an access sleeve behind one sink so that if the line ever clogs again I can clean it out myself. Total bill: $110. Avoid the Hiller Hustle. Look for an independent plumber. Get two estimates.
Do Not Work For Hiller Plumbing.
There is a reason Hiller Plumbing is always hireing. Because people are always quiting. You have to attend a mandatory sales meeting every Friday and watch videos on how to make more sales. I have seen every Zig Ziggler video there is! You get yelled at when your sales are low AND if you leave a customers house with only a service charge or no $$ you have to call Jimmy Hiller himself and explain why. 24 hour service means you are expected to work 24 hours a day if needed.
If you would like to work in the office, that's not a bad deal. The girls in the office come in around 7 or 8 a.m. (clock themselves in at 6 a.m.) and leave around 4 p.m. (clocking themselves out at 5 or 6 p.m.)
Techs have to give 60 day notice for a vacation day (office people can give a few hours notice)
Insurance with the company will cost you aproximately $155 a paycheck (weekly)
Prices,,,,,ok. Stainless Steal braided washing machine hoses. Very good. Everyone should have these. Lowes sells them for $32 a pair. Hiller sells them for $110 a pair (installed of course)
Water Heaters,,,,,,Fergeson sells State water heaters for $300. Hiller sells them for $1200 (installed of course)
Toilet rebuild (toilet running) total parts- $25. Hiller charges $165 (installed of course)
Faucets,,,,,,A GOOD name brand faucet will cost about $150 to $200. The "good" at Hiller $550 (installed) but it is an off the wall brand made in china. Trust me on this one!!
Drain treatment,,,,,,same stuff at Lowes or online for $25. Hiller $75 (not installed)
If you are in dire straights for a job, don't have to much of a criminal background then head over to hiller. You need to continue to look for a job though because you WILL quite within 18 months.
TN worst employer. I don't see how Jimmy Hiller sleeps at night! He is very good at ripping off his own employees he owes me over $600 for commissions he refuses to pay it. I also earned 14 hours of vacation time he refuses to pay it. He hires kids that only have 30 days of schooling to work on your equipment I would never want someone with that little experience working on my stuff. With all this said do you really think he cares about his customers and how he hits your pocket book? And he pressure all the techs to sell you thing high pressure sales. All Jimmy is out for is to make his pocket book fatter.
Get another opinion.
Absolutely not! I will say that they did come out quickly. We called because of the sewer/water was not flowing properly. He first told us that it would be 150 bucks just to dig a hole so he could see the pipe! Are you kidding me??? That didn't include them running a snake and camera.
Then we sat down to discuss the problem. I was told that every pipe in the house needed replaced. The ones under the house were cast iron and they were no good. There needed to be a clean out outside the house and that the line from the house to the city's main line was blocked and needed replaced. The roots of the tree in the yard was the problem. Total cost == 6550.00. YIKES!
I then called another company. Rapid Response Plumbing. Lets say Mark was awesome. He pretty much gave me a quote over the phone!! He looked at the pipes, and said nothing screamed at him. Told me before he will do any work that, the city should be called. He was 90% sure that it was the city's problem not mine. And it was!!!! The city came the next day and fixed the line.
Hiller NEVER said one word about the city. So now I don't need a plumber for the blockage issue. So if I would have gone with Hiller (who likes to upsell EVERY service they provide) I would be out $6550.00. But Im glad I didn't, because now Im out a phone call. Which would you do?
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Go to your nearest yellow pages and skip Hiller: 1) They start work they do not finish; 2) schedule appointments then don't keep them; 3) always trying to sell you things you either don't need or if you need them, the price is outrageous. Not a trustworthy company and I hope I have saved someone from the same misery they have put me through over the last year.
Don't waste your time.
1. You get a different plumber every time.
2. We purchased a water heater from them and a 2 years later it quits working. I had to prove they installed the water heater, even though they presumably had records to show they install it. Finally, after confronting them with the invoice they fixed it.
3. Another 2 years and the water heater fails again. This time, after lost faith in Hiller we hired another plumber. He found that the 2 thermostats in the water heater were set to 2 different values. According to the new plumber that will lead to the thermostats death.
4. Hiller is always trying to upsell on something.
We will not use them again.
