Fun and lively, for adults as well as families. Fabulous wings and onion rings!. We arrived on lower Broadway an hour before the start of the American Idol concert, and were looking for a quick bite. This place is right across the street from the Arena, so it couldn't have been more convenient. We had kids in tow, and this is a bar and grill, so didn't know if they would let us in. Luckily, children are welcome at the tables downstairs, as well as on the rooftop patio. Our kids are older and no problem, but even younger children would not cause a disruption in this busy and somewhat noisy environment. The place was crowded, but we found a table, and in the interest of time, ordered only pizza and appetizers. The food came surprisingly quickly, considering the crowd. I thought the pizza was great, but be aware, they use a bar-b-que sauce base instead of the traditional tomato sauce, and the kids did not like it. The onion rings were fresh cut, thick and crunchy. The buffalo wings were large and crispy, and not overwhelmed with too much sauce. We asked for, and received, extra sauce on the side. We also ordered a cheese and smoked sausage plate, with lots of sausage rings and big hunks of chedder cheese, served with crackers, pickles and peppers. It was great. The rest of the menu consists of salads, sandwiches, bar-b-que, catfish, etc. Nothing fancy, but tasty and satisfying. Five of us ate, for under $50, off the appitizer menu, and had more food than we could finish, as well as soft drinks. I thought it was a good value. As a bonus, at 6:30pm on a weeknight, a really great band started playing. We hated to leave for the concert! It was a good experience that even our teenager and preteens enjoyed. My only complaint is that it was a little warm inside, but it was very crowded, and it is July! It's a good, lively place for adults as well as families. We will definitely go back. Those wings are already calling my name!
Fantastic service, HOT wings, great view & location. I have been to Rippy?s several times. Last Friday 4 of us went to Rippy?s for dinner & drinks before a Kats game and had a wonderful time. When we first got there we sat at a table on the main floor in the bar area and were ignored for several minutes. Since it was nice weather we decided to eat upstairs instead. What a difference location makes! The service from our rooftop waitress, Laura Marie, was impeccable! For appetizers we ordered the cheese & sausage tray plus the chicken wings. Those wings are hot & spicy. They made my hair sweat! But they were oh so good. For dinner we had BBQ sandwiches which were also tasty. One of the best things about Laura Marie, besides her great attitude and attentiveness, was that we were never without a cold beer or ice tea refill. The view from the roof is great as you get to take in the sights and sounds of Broadway plus there is a cool breeze. We will definitely go back to Rippy?s again and try to sit in Laura Marie?s section. Stay away from Broadway Brewhouse as their service is consistently absolutely awful.
Great before GEC events, if you have the time. I'm not a vegetarian, but I typically avoid meat. I was pleasantly surprised at Rippy's, and it exceeds its looks. It is a little pricey, but the pulled pork BBQ plate can easily be shared by 2, and my significant other eats like a horse! Its great before a game or other GEC event, but get there early. Service is slow on busy nights, but the place is packed wall-to-wall, so what else would you expect? But if you get there early and get your food before the rush you can camp out at your table and drink cheaper than in the arena until game or event time.
Never had a bad time.... ...then again I've never been with a large group or seated at a table, always bellied up to eat/drink at the bar or had take-home on business travel. Sure it's not as crusty as Tootsies or the bar-onlys on Broadway and it's not like some of the hip, newer "non-country" places near the Vandy campus but it's perfect for what it is. Good food, cute, friendly bar staff, good location, live country music and out of towners mixing with locals. The 2 for 1 happy hours are also clutch.
ok food, terrible service. The food is ok, for lower broadway, the service is bad. Ok place if you are a tourist in town for a convention, but I am not going back.
avoid when there's a predator's game.
We LOVE Rippy's!! Always stop in when in Nashville. Great food and great music. The staff
are efficient and eager to please. The pork sandwiches are to die for.
This best-seat-in-town BBQ bar keeps the postgame party going..
In Short
Numerous neon beer signs point the way to this sports-barbecue joint located 20 paces from the main entrance to Gaylord Arena. Although often given a bad rap as a tourist trap, Rippy's works a formula--decent food, cold beer and colorful live music--that's as old as Nashville itself. The menu is a bit pricey for the portions, but staples like baby back ribs and pulled pork make a fine pregame feast.
Not worth the hassle but good place to pre-game.
Waited for table for 10 min. to be expected.
In the middle of the meal was asked to get up by staff because camera crew wanted to interview someone. Thankfully a table was leaving and we were able to sit down again. Service is slow, and food is worse (stick to pizza). But its the only restaraunt on a roof out that lets you feel like youre in Nashville. Location, location, location.
NEAVER BEEN TREATED SO POORLY.
was at the cma's this weekend. stopped and ate here it was worst services i have ever had
and i have been to several places. took us 15 minutes to just get water then when we ordered
they got 2 out of the 4 orders right. when we complained after a hour wait for our food (which
was cold) the manager was even hasty to us. i have neaver seen anyone spoke to in the manner this manager did he was very rude. i would not take anyone to this place and have told all my friends about this treatment and they won't go there either.
Worst lunch. Waited 15 minutes for our drink order, another 15 minutes for our food order and 35 minutes for our food to arrive. Completely understaffed, rude when serviced, etc. Horrible! In fact, one person in our party had to leave to attend a meeting before our food was served. Cross Broadway, wait in line and eat at Jack's BBQ.
