In Short
Numerous neon beer signs point the way to this sports-barbecue joint located 20 paces from the main entrance to Gaylord Arena. Although often given a bad rap as a tourist trap, Rippy's works a formula--decent food, cold beer and colorful live music--that's as old as Nashville itself. The menu is a bit pricey for the portions, but staples like baby back ribs and pulled pork make a fine pregame feast.

Ok, so it's beautiful outside today(4/17/09) and I'm sitting up on Rippy's patio working from here on my laptop. This is awesome! They have really good food and really cold beer, but you have to see this patio. Something really bothered me just a little while ago to make me get on here though.....I just hope whomever I am refering to gets on here to complain and sees my statement! I was sitting up here, minding my own business and 4-5 guys come and sit at the table next to me. The patio is really busy and it take time(not long) for the bartender Beth to come greet them. From that point on they were assholes...one in particular. Long story short...they almost ruined my time b/c they were such jerks! Cut these people a little slack. It's not like she wasn't up here workingreally hard. Anyway, I love this place and everyone who has ever waited on me. I've read through the rest of the reviews while sitting here and all I can say is that anyone that has a bad time here isn't the type of person that was going to have fun anyway. This place is clean, fun, has a great staff, and like I said....A GREAT ROOFTOP PATIO!!!

I'm a Texan & I've had my share of pork ribs, but let me tell you, these were the best ribs I ever had. The coleslaw was really good as well...not too sweet. My husband had the pulled chicken bbque sandwich and he thought it was just ok. The entertainment was fantastic and the beer was cold! If I'm ever back this way I will make it a point to get to Ribby's.

I got to Rippys at 8pm on a Thursday night, a few patrons in the place maybe 20% capacity. I stood at the doorway for about 3 maybe 4 mins and not sure who worked there but no one said a word to me so I figured it was seat yourself. After seating myself I waited another 10 mins as I figured out why the service was so bad, 2 servers (one may have been the "hostess") where smoking cigarettes outside and 3 more appeared to be taking breaks inbetween serving others. All of this was occuring about 15 feet from my table. About 10 mins later a girl walked by and asked if was going to order something, (no hello, no menu and no manners) I said please. I guess when you're a popular spot there is no need to offer service. I got my food, it was ok but maybe now I'm biased. Go to Jack's across the street, the food is very good and the service is humble but present.
