A charming neighborhood filled with great architecture and history. – In Short
Established in the late 1850s by European immigrants, the area was incorporated into the city in 1865. Elaborate residences sit next to modest workers' cottages, a testament to the original diversity of the area. In the mid-'70s, urban investors began a restoration and renewal program. Germantown offers one of Nashville's most significant and diverse concentrations of Victorian architecture, e.g., Italianate, Eastlake, Queen Anne, shotgun cottages, rowhouses and late 19th-century vernacular.
