In Short
Located on the charming, rejuvenated town square, eating at this family-style Italian place can feel like taking a step back in time. There's nothing fancy about the decor or the food, but the staff is brimming with Southern hospitality, making this place a Murfreesboro favorite for years. Marina's specializes in made-from-scratch pizzas and calzones topped with trendy and traditional extras. Inexpensive pastas come in fairly large portions, and salads are the basic iceberg lettuce variety.

My boyfriend eat here every couple months. We have ordered the regula rpizza and the stuffed pizza. He prefers the regular pizza, which has a nice, crispy crust. The stuffed pizza is awesome! It is full of cheese and any ingredients you choose. The crust has a sweet taste and is dusted with parmesan. I also love their pasta. I ordered the chicken parmesan, and it's pretty good...not too dry. It is a tad bland, but I know that's somewhat common. The eggplant parmesan is some of the best I've had. It annoys me that they don't serve liquor. I think that in 2009, any place that doesn't pay for a liquor license is cheap and annoying. I don't drink beer or wine and would like a drink after dinner sometimes. It does not have a good atmosphere. The tables are crowded and falling apart. There are often loud, huge groups that are not seperated from the rest of the dining room. Also, the ventilation is not good. Don't plan on going anywhere but home unless you change clothes first; you will smell like a giant pizza. You can see the tiny kitchen, and it is not very clean. Watching servers dust oyur pasta with cheese using their bare hands is gross. I know they do it everywhere, but to see it, with unwashed hands, is yucky. Their desserts are very good. I love their tiramisu and cannoli. They both taste fresh and authentic. The servers are very good. They are very nice. They could sometimes use a cleaner uniform. It also takes a while to be seated here. I would call ahead.

It's a pretty big stretch to call this place authentic Italian. Having lived with 3rd generation italian-americans, this was nearly offensive. The lazagna and ziti were microwaved, The Manicotti, tortellini, raviolli, and stuffed shells are premade in a factory somewhere and frozen. The Shrimp pasta was watery and incredibly bland. The ingredients were not very fresh. The salads are very inconcistent as far as quality goes. The Dressings come prepackaged except the bleu cheese which was pretty tasty, though the ranch was the worst I think I've ever had (watery and bitter and greenish) The bread was good. The Pizzas and calzones were pretty good although lacking in flare. the tomato sause comes straight from a can which was VERY disappointing The meat sause smelled aweful. Overall the food was bland and overpriced. The beer and wine list was decent. The atmosphere was ok.. nothing special, though the building has alot of character and the location is great. The walls were paper thin next to the kitchen and dish area which was very disruptive if you are seated in the back. The wait staff was friendly enough, a little slow at times. The Food was very overpriced for the quality. although on certain nights you can get the stuffed pastas relatively cheaply though you are better off going to Fazoli's if you want cheap italian food. If you really want a good pizza Tomato Tomato is right around the corner. If you want real fine dining Maple Street Grill Is only a few doors down.

I love Marinas on the square! The food is awesome, pretty low prices. If you're looking for a fancy dining area, you probably won't like it. But for someone who wants a great meal in a cozy little place, this is it. Every time I've been the waitresses have been very nice and again the food is GREAT!
