What People Are Saying About Jackson's Bar & Bistro

In Short – Specialty teas and imported beer make an unlikely combination, but here, it works great together. Bloody marys are served alongside cookie-dough eggrolls, and there's also an extensive wine list to go along with a hearty breakfast. No matter what the combination, this place is a refreshingly unique hangout that wears several hats. In the evening, spacious outdoor patio is filled with friends and rounds of cocktails.

Editor's Tips

Where to Sit:
Indulge in some prime people-watching on the patio, and bring your dog: it's pet-friendly.
What to Drink:
The green apple martini is a hit, but other sugary libations include the Nantucket Sunset with vodka, cranberry juice and Chambord and the Midori margarita.

Terrible!

by Geschenk79 at Citysearch

It was not my plan to write a bad review since I am a regular at this place, but last nights experience was just terrible, and I will never go there again. I decided to have dinner with some friends, our waitress first of all never came to check up on us to start us off with a drink, we had to actually ask a waiter that was passing by who could assist us. Then when we ordered she got our orders wrong, and did not even appologize for it, but instead she was mumbling something while she was walking back to the kitchen. Third, I paid with my credit card and left her some tip in cash ( yes I still left a tip because I am just tooo nice), and she decided to charge me $50, instead of $40. They are just terrible.

I love Jacksons

by RaeIvie at Citysearch

I'm very surprised to see so many cons for Jackson's. I will agree that the service at times can be.. uh.. off? I have waited a while for a refill or another beer but in their defense whenever that has happened to me they have been very busy. I dig the fact they have great beer, and I love the food! It's original and you can't beat the prices. If you are reading these reviews and have never been I suggest you find out for yourself! It's worth trying for sure.

one to miss

i've been going to Jackson't for years... they have a decent wine list and a nice patio, which is enough to please me! give me a bottle of wine, a good friend for conversation and some fresh air and i'm happy. thing is, the last few times i've been there the service has been ridiculous. they are both over the top intrusive and absentee. one minute they're INSISTING on pouring your wine and when you're parched for some water they're nowhere to be found.

the last few visits have been the worst. upon being presented with a bottle of wine with a gal pal, i told the over-the-top and annoying waiter that there was no need to do a wine presentation. he persisted and ended up pouring wine all over my new J Brand jeans... i jerked my knee under the table and he made no apology... quickly excusing himself. he made no recognition of ruining my $200 jeans until he came back, stating, "let me pour this over here", and removing my glass before filling it up.

i've been a loyal customer of Jackson's for years, treating the establishment and the waiters with generosity. NO MORE! stay away from this poser dump if you care about your clothes and/or have any service expectation. THIS PLACE SUCKS.

Terrible!!!!

@ about 7:30 today I went to Jackson's ON AN EMPTY STOMACH (important later) with my friend and his fiance. My friend and I both decide to get milkshakes and my friend's fiance decides to get the cookie dough eggroll. The milkshake tastes odd. Worse than a McDonald's milkshake. But not odd enough to make me suspect anything. I'm very shocked that they are trying to charge me $4 for this.

By the end of the meal I feel terrible. I felt like I wanted to hurl. I drink a glass of water. Kind of shrug it off. Within 40 minutes my stomach is churning horribly and I run to the bathroom for one of the most violent sh-ts I have ever taken. I text message my friend and he says he is having, at the exact same moment, the exact same reaction. I don't know if they did something to our milkshakes or not, but we both had violent reactions. So it's very obvious to me, since we were both on an empty stomach and we both had the same reaction and my friend's fiance had no reaction that there was something wrong with the milkshakes.

Unfortunately, this isn't the worse part of the story. I go back after dropping my friend off at the airport to go get my money back. I find and tell my waiter and I watch him spend five minutes telling the general manager what is going on. (Seemed fishy) The general manager comes over and REFUSES to refund my money. I spend 5 minutes calmly explaining why he should give me my money back and he refuses. He also refuses to provide me the phone number of the owner or his higher up.

I'm staring at this guy like he is crazy. Not only is he refusing to refund me for his restaurant's blatant mistake, but then he won't allow me to contact anyone over him to explain how ridiculous this is.

He then tells me to walk outside with him and the entire waitstaff SURROUNDS ME LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO JUMP ME. With one of the waiters walking behind me, trying to instigate a fight. Absolutely ridiculous.

With the overcharging situation others have talked about and this specific incidence I don't understand why you would ever give them your business. It seems like its safe to say that it's a pretty sketchy place.

Another Overcharge

by JerScha at Citysearch

Add another strike in the con column. They overcharged my credit card too. I was willing to see it as an accident except there are others who reviewed with the same complaint. Unacceptable.

  • Pros: none that outweigh their overcharge habit
  • Cons: overcharged CC
