For more than 60 years, this all-American institution has been serving its signature chicken and home-style sides..
In Short
Established in 1939, this fast-food restaurant still makes its legendary fried chicken with the closely guarded blend of 11 herbs and spices originally created by founder Colonel Sanders. Modern additions to the menu include oven-roasted renditions of its chicken sandwiches, popcorn chicken, potato wedges and wraps. Classic sides include flaky, oversized biscuits, steaming-hot mashed potatoes and gravy, smoky-sweet baked beans and crisp, generously dressed coleslaw. Kids and adults love the "little bucket" parfaits of pudding desserts.
Bad Service Stands Out.
When I visit this particular location, they are often out of Original Recipe (their specialty) and I have to wait for them to prepare more. That's fine except for sometimes they are not forthright. On one occasion, I placed my order and was told they had just dropped some fresh chicken and it would be around 10-12 minutes. So I left for a few minutes and returned to discover they still hadn't dropped the chicken. The girl at the drive-thru lied because it was near closing time and they were hoping to avoid preparing more. On another occasion, they didn't say anything about not having the Original Recipe I asked for, they just made up the difference with Extra-Crispy without telling me, which I did not discover until I got home.
While the service here is sometimes good, it is the examples above that stand out.
