In Short
Towering hilltop at over 200 feet, this classic Greek Ionic temple is one of Music City's most memorable monuments. Designed by famed Philadelphia architect William Strickland--who is also entombed here--and completed in 1859, this enduring structure still functions as the seat of the state government. Public tours of the building itself and the extensive, landscaped grounds are a continual crowd favorite. President James K. Polk's tomb can be found here, as well.
