You might not be the best carpenter in the world, but to a family watching you work on their new house as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, you look a lot like Bob Vila. Habitat for Humanity provides decent, affordable housing for low income families with no interest. To be eligible for the group's assistance, families must have two or more people living in substandard housing, and the family members are required to work 500 hours on the home (sweat equity). Work is done by family and community volunteers. Habitat also assists families to expedite the move. The group's funding comes from donations, and the organization constantly seeks volunteers.--Lucas W. Hendrickson
